Session 2- January 21, 2012

WOW! Thank you so much for an AWESOME second session! The feedback has been great and I am really enjoying it! I have posted all of the resources from Saturday's session where we finished up Expository writing, and got right into Narratives.  These resources can be found at the top of this page, under Writing Resources. I loved watching parents working with their children, and I have noticed a difference in class.

Hopefully you all received the sample Narrative writing I sent home Monday so that you can work on making those papers even better. Please contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.

I will be including 2 separate posts with pictures from each of our sessions, so I hope you enjoy those.

Session 1- January 14th, 2012

Thank you SO much to all of the parents and students who attended the 1st Parent Leadership Academy on Saturday, January 14th. We worked hard on Expository writing, and I am anxious to see some samples at our next session. All of the materials and links that we used on Saturday can be found under the Writing Resources at the top of this page. I will be adding more content to them after each session.

Parent Leadership Academy Awards & Recognition Ceremony

Please remember that each session will be from 8-12 in Room #124 (Mrs. Hartman's Class) and breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Welcome!

Welcome to our Oak Ridge Parent Leadership Academy blog! I am so excited that you are on this journey with me! During this 6 week course, you will learn strategies for helping your fourth grader at home on reading, writing, and math skills that will be assessed on the FCAT. Our goal is to provide you with great resources and strategies to help your child be successful as well as to strengthen the relationship between home and school.

The Parent Leadership Academy will take place on Saturday mornings for a total of six weeks. The first session will be held on Saturday, January 14th from 8:00 a.m. to noon and a catered breakfast and lunch will be provided.

If you have other children that are not in fourth grade, but live in your home that attend Oak Ridge, please feel free to bring them. We will have an Oak Ridge paraprofessional who will be conducting center activities with your other children during the 8:00-12:00 time frame. We will provide breakfast and lunch for them as well.

Please join us for an orientation dinner on Tuesday, January 10th at 5:30 p.m. An invitation letter and dinner RSVP form was sent home in your child's planner. During this orientation, you will receive a schedule listing the session dates, topics, and other fun activities that we have planned.
